Proof of Ownership Results

This article discusses the possible Proof of Ownership results you may expect to see. If you are looking for information on how to complete Proof of Ownership checks including how to re-run a check, please click here.

Whenever a Proof of Ownership data check on it's own has been run, you will receive the following information:

  • Ownership type e.g. Sole or Joint
  • Tenure type e.g. freehold or leasehold
  • If the individual's full name matches

When you have also requested the Title Register & Plan, these will also appear at the bottom of the screen.

An example of a Proof of Ownership pass with a Title Register & Plan can be seen below.

Please note - if the ownership type comes back as joint ownership, if you would like to see who else owns the property, this will not be shown and you will have to download the Title Register.

An example of a Proof of Ownership check which failed due to the first and middle names being incorrect can be seen below:

Title Registers & Plans

Sometimes when running a Title Register & Plan, an address may return multiple possible results. When this happens, you will also be presented with extra information to help you decide which deed is the correct one.

You will be shown:

  • If the property is leasehold or freehold
  • If the Proof of Ownership check for that property has passed or failed

As shown in the example below, as the Proof of Ownership check has passed for the first deed, this will likely be the correct deed you are looking for.
