Identity Document Results

This article aims to help you understand the results you may see for Identity Document Verification, and your next steps if an Identity Document has failed. This article is split into three sections:

Please note - this article discusses Identity Document results only, if you are looking to understand your liveness or other results, please see our results guides here.

Overall Results

For Identity Document results, you will be presented with one of three overall results:

  • Pass (Green) - When an Identity Document check appears as green, this means that the document has been passed.
  • Pending (Orange) - If the Identity Document appears as orange, this means Credas has not been able to fully pass the Identity Document, and you will need to manually review the pending sections. An example may be that the the name on the Identity Document does not match the name entered on the invitation. To review the document, click 'review' and you will be able to update the result and see the cause of the pending result.
  • Fail (red) - An Identity Document will appear as red and a fail if we have not been able to verify that the document is genuine and valid. An example may be that the document is expired. You will be able to click into the results for a further breakdown on what caused the failure by clicking 'view'.

If the box appears as blue, this means the individual has not yet completed the Identity Document check. If the individual is struggling to complete their check, we have a helpful support portal for them here.

Detailed Reports & What to do if the Identity Document fails?

If an Identity Document fails, we recommend following your companies internal compliance policies. If you are unsure on what to do, please speak to your manager and/or compliance officer.

We do however offer a number of solutions that you can use within Credas itself if the document has failed:

1. Detailed Reports - If the document has been verified using visual analysis, a detailed report will be available for you to view, as can be seen below. We recommend reading this document as it will provide more granular information on why the document has failed, for example if it is expired. For help understanding the detailed report, and what it means, please refer to our detailed report guide here

2. Resubmitting the Check - If you wish to resubmit the check to the individual to allow them to try again with the same document, or a different document, you can follow the steps here . Resubmitting the document will ask the individual to re-attempt the liveness & capture a biometric Identity Document again. We recommend asking the individual to capture their passport and scan their e-chip within their passport using the Credas App where possible.

3. Updating the Individuals Details - If the document failed due to the individuals name or date or birth being different to the one you entered on the invitation, you can update these and either re-run/re-submit the document by following the guides below. However, we do recommend carrying out due diligence to identify why the information on their document differs to what you originally input.

4. Manually Overriding a Result - There is an option to override a result to a pass if you choose too, however we do recommend reading the detailed report beforehand, if available and speaking to a compliance officer/manager. If you wish to override the result, you can do this by clicking the 'fail' status as circled below. You will then be asked to update the result, and add a comment. This comment will appear within the 'notes' tab of the individual's profile and on the PDF for audit trial purposes. If you do not have the ability to override a result, this is likely due to your permissions so we recommend speaking to your admin user who manage your permissions.
